Bookstore in my backpack

Interestingly, one of the hardest decisions I had to make while packing was choosing which books to bring with me.  I wonder what this says about me - hahaha oh well.  I went to Barnes and Noble with my friend Taylor and spent about two hours perusing the selection to find some novel novels.  Once we had around fifteen books, I had to choose the four books that would accompany me to Sri Lanka.  Taylor was kind enough to guide me in my book-buying endeavor by restricting me only to four books.  So here's my list:

- City of Thieves -  A story taking place in a World War Two work camp.  Two prisoners are promised freedom if they can find eggs for the General's daughter's wedding cake within a certain time constraint.  Will they win their freedom?  We will find out.

- One Thousand White Women - In the 1800s the Cheyenne tribe approached the US Government asking for 1000 white women to help them assimilate into American culture as their lives as they knew on the plains was being drastically changed.  However, the US government would not participate in this idea - BUT this book describes what would have happened if the plan had been put into practice!

- A Perfect Red: Empire, Espionage, and the Quest for the Color of Desire - A history of the trade of red dye and the drama that results from people's desires to be fashionable.  Haha, I don't know if the end of that sentence is true, but really, if we were all blind, we wouldn't need the red dye.  Pondering.

- The Pirate Wars - A recap of the golden years of pirates.  And the people that caused their deaths.  Looked interesting!

- The Kommandant's Girl -- MAd ProPS to TAY!
